Philadelphia: The fight continues to takedown COVID19 and in the process getting everyone vaccinated, will we see anyone inside the stadiums before the NBA & NHL Season ends and when MLB Season begins in April.
Recently, New York & New Jersey would announce that they would have limited fans back into their venues starting next week
Over the weekend, report came down that the Sixers & Flyers have sent in proposal to City of Philadelphia about having fans inside the Wells Fargo Center for their games in March
On Sunday, The Phillies would also sent in proposal
During their weekly press conference about how the city status on taking down COVID19, Health Commissioner Dr Farley would update everyone on the proposals
Basically what he is saying that there are restrictions in Philadelphia for Large events & gatherings that are set to expire on Feb 28 & would also have to go by what the Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf set
For indoor events at venue of capacity of 10,000 can only have 500 attendees
For outdoor event venues with capacity over 10,000 that can only have 2,500 people
Wells Fargo Center holds 20,000 at full capacity for Flyers & Sixers games
Citizens Bank Park holds 45,000 in capacity for Phillies games
Mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney would say “I would love to see some people in the ballpark safely for Opening Day”
More from Mayor Kenney
A Spokesperson for Pennsylvania Department of Health would say the following
“We are continuously looking at data, the effectiveness of current mitigation efforts on spread, spread rates, and working towards vaccinations and ensuring that any reopening strategy is done with the public health and safety as the top priority. Simultaneously, we continue to examine our mitigation efforts, which are successfully contributing to the decreasing public spread of this virus.“
If the State & City signs off on allowing limited fans into the stadiums for March or April, what is the latest date of when we could have the fans back in the stadium
For the Flyers, their first home game in March is March 7 vs Washington, if it comes to April, then April 5 vs Boston
For the Sixers, Their first home game in March would be March 1 vs Indiana, for the month of April, the NBA will release the 2nd half of their schedule following the NBA All Star Game which is set for March 7.
For the Phillies, their home opener is set for April 1.
Stay tuned as this is a developing story and there is some hope that we could get back to a sense of normalcy.
