Wildcats conquer Quakers in Big 5 Women’s Action

Villanova: Whenever the Big 5  takes center stage in Men’s and Women’s basketball, those games have been battle and ones you will always remember. On Wednesday night, the Villanova Wildcats took on Penn Quakers in Women’s Basketball action from Finneran Pavilion on the campus of Villanova University.  Villanova comes into the game at 9-7 while Penn invades the Main Line at 10-2.

In the first quarter, The Wildcats would jump on the Quakers for an early 6-0 lead, the Quakers would wake up and they would get the game tied at 12 with 3:04 left. The Quakers would respond to end the first quarter leading 21-17.

At one point in the second quarter, the Quakers had a lead of 11 which made it 30-19 with 7:05 left, The Wildcats would answer the challenge as they cut the Quakers lead down to 4 at 36-32 at halftime.

During the second half, the Wildcats would go on a run as they would get the game tied at 40 with 5:26 left in the 3rd quarter.

The Wildcats would make things difficult for the Quakers to make a comeback as the Wildcats got the lead to 14 at 63-49 with 3:26 left. The Wildcats would cruise to a 70-58 win.

With the win, the Wildcats have a share of the Big 5 women’s title as  Penn plays Temple next week to see who they are sharing the title with.

The Wildcats are now 10-7 on the season while Quakers fall to 10-3 on the season.
