Sixers Throwback: NBA Finals comes to Philly for 1st time since 1983

Philadelphia: As we know when you go through 3 rounds of the playoffs, you have made it to the final stop on the road to a championship.

Let’s go to June 10, 2001, as the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 3 of the 2001 NBA Finals from the First Union Center in South Philadelphia. The series would be tied at 1-1. This was the first NBA Finals game in Philadelphia since May 26, 1983.

There was a certain feel to this game as the NBA Finals made it return to Philadelphia & the entire nation was pulling for the Sixers to pull the upset.

Allen Iverson would do his best to put the Sixers in a chance to take the game by dropping 35 points

The Lakers would get the last laugh as Robert Horry hit a big 3 pointer to stop any momentum the Sixers had to win the game

Lakers would take game 3 and would take back the home court as they would now lead the series 2-1.
