Flyers Throwback: Keith Primeau Playoff Hat Trick vs Maple Leafs

Philadelphia: During this time with the sports world shut down due to the Coronavirus, it is great to go back to see what significant moments happened in your team’s history on certain days.

Let’s go to May 2, 2004, as the Philadelphia Flyers took on the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 5 of the Second Round of the 2004 Playoffs from the Wachovia Center in South Philadelphia.

What was significant about this day, this was the game where Flyers Capitan Keith Primeau would score a Hat Trick. The Flyers took the first two games of the series, then Toronto took the next two so this game would decide who would have the momentum to finish.

The Flyers came out with a purpose and jumped all over the Maple Leafs for a 3-1 lead at end of the first period. Keith Primeau had it going, his first goal came at 18:54 of the first period, the second goal came 44 seconds into the second period which made it 4-1. The Hat Trick goal came at 3:50 into the 3rd period which made it 7-2.

This was the Flyers first Playoff Hat Trick since Andy Delmore did it for the Flyers against the Penguins in May 2000.
