Phillies Throwback: Matt Stairs NLCS HR

Philadelphia: As the entire nation slowly makes its way back from battling the Coronavirus, a lot of the Sports TV Networks & radio stations have been doing a lot of interesting things for the fans to fill the void of the games being postponed.

On Tuesday, SportsRadio 94WIP in Philadelphia went into their archives and replayed the Game 4 of the 2008 National League Championship Series between the Phillies against the Los Angeles Dodgers from Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles.

Why is this game so special for Phillies fans, this was the game that Matt Stairs came off the bench for the Phillies and his at-bat would change the entire series as he blasted a 2 run pinch-hit home run in the 8th inning which gave the Phillies the 7-5 lead.

TV: Joe Buck of Fox Sports:

Radio: Scott Franzke on 1210 WPHT:
“The 3-1 Pitch, Swing, and high fly ball deep right field Ethier turns and watches this one sail deep into the pavilion seats in right, Phillies lead in 8th on a pinch-hit two-run HR from Matt Stairs, 7-5 Phillies lead it”

The Phillies would win the NLCS in Game 5 and then go on to win the 2008 World Series in 5 games over the Tampa Bay Rays for their first World Series since 1980.
