Valentine’s Day Brawl in Philly on Showtime

Philadelphia: As the entire nation celebrates Valentine’s Day, the eyes of the Boxing world came to Philadelphia for an interesting night of fights from the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia. The Main Event is Thomas Mattice taking on  Isaac Cruz in a 10 round lightweight battle.  Both Mattice & Cruz come into the fight with 1 loss so someone is going to leave with the second loss of their career.

The Showtime card had 4 fights and they went as follows:

The first fight of the night is Derrick Colemon Jr vs Joseph Jackson in an 8 round welterweight fight. Both fighters came out throwing big shots and the way this fight was going, should have gone more than 8 rounds.

The fight went the distance as Jackson takes down Coleman by UD, The Scores were (77-75, 80-72, 78-74).

The second fight was Montana Love vs Jerrico Walton

Both guys were connecting, Love got Walton hard in round 7 that rocked him, the fight would go all 8 rounds & Judges score it (78-74, 77-75, 77-75) as Montana Love takes down Jerrico Walton by UD.

The third fight of the showtime card is Ra’eese Aleem vs Adam Lopez

This fight was a mismatch from the start as Aleem was dominating Lopez during the first 3 rounds and the corner for Lopez would stop the fight in the 4th round and Aleem got the TKO win at 1:30 of Round 4 to stay undefeated.

The Main Event of the night is a 10 round fight between Thomas Mattice vs Isaac Cruz, During the first couple of rounds, Cruz was landing good body shots and then Mattice came back with body shots of his own. The action picked up in round 7 as Cruz rocked Mattice and Mattice came back in the later round to make things interesting. The fight went all 10 rounds and judges score it (95-95, 96-94, 96-94) as Isaac Cruz defeats Thomas Mattice by Majority Decision.

Overall this was a great night of fights and especially the city of Philadelphia in the national spotlight.
